Mentions & “Best Of”s

Writer Deniz Camp has, in only the last few years, provided comic book readers with some of the finest titles the medium has seen in decades. Working simultaneously on books for Marvel, DC, and Image, Camp has proven himself to be one of the most exciting writers in the industry today, and his Image book, Assorted Crisis Events, is perhaps the ultimate proof of that fact.An anthology exploring numerous aspects of a bizarre, sci-fi world of ever-shifting temporal anomalies, Assorted Crisis Events is a damning takedown of contemporary social and political issues, and its artwork is constantly stunning. Each issue is a staggering achievement in comic book storytelling, and it’s easily one of the best comics of the 2020s, even with so few issues released so far.

  • Issues 3 & 5 of Assorted Crisis Events were the highest rated comic books in the month of their release per the League of Comic Geeks. The first issue was No. 10,  second issue No. 6, and the fourth issue was ranked No. 5. In each of those months- the highest rated book was Absolute Martian Mindhunter.
  • The 10 best single comic book issues of 2025 (so far) July, 2025 BamSmackPow.com. First is ACE Issue 3. Ultimates Issue 9 & Absolute Martian Manhunter Issue 1 also appear on the list.

“Camp’s Image Comics series Assorted Crisis Events has popped alongside those tentpole titles, with shops raving about its sales. Schatz even said it’s Variant Edition’s most subscribed to title right now. “There’s a special alchemy coming into play with (Camp’s) recent ideas that seems to be catching fire creatively,” Schatz said. “And thankfully, it all seems to be connecting with readers.”
